February, it seems, marks the unofficial kickstart to the new year's season of festivals and events. 2020 is no exception as this February really has it all lined up for you. We've handpicked three festivals guaranteed to fulfil your cultural cravings and also added a couple of interesting food experiences into the mix. As week 7 (10-16 February) is a public school holiday in Denmark, many museums and institutions have special events - especially for kids

See the bright side of the winter darkness

Another festival happening all over the city is the annual Copenhagen Light Festival where Copenhagen's squares, streets and buildings set the scene for beautiful light installations that make perfect reason to stroll through the quiet, city at night. From 1-23 February you can experience the lighting spectacle all around the city. For free and for people of all ages.

Eat traditional Danish where quality never goes out of style.

In between all the culture happening this month, you're gonna need some good, solid food. Dinner or lunch, Lumskebugten is a good option if you want to sample some of the best traditional Danish food. Often focusing too much on all the new exciting places opening in this city, I can highly recommend Lumskebugten. It's been around since 1854 and is still rockin' it.

Dining week

Besides the crazy long list of restaurants offering set menu at bargain prices, Dining Week also offers some alternative dining and cooking experiences. Check out the annual festival's programme where you might also find some "fællesspisning" events, which best translates to communcal dining and a perfect chance to experience good old Danish hygge.

Join a special kind of beer festival

Held in one of my favourite beer bars in one of the neighbourhoods furthest from my home but closest to my heart, Mikkeller Baghaven Wild Ale Celebration 2020 is a no-brainer for me. And I highly suggest you use this unique chance to spend some time and expanden your ale horizon with the beer geeks out at the bar and brewery Baghaven in the industrial Refshaleøen neighbourhood.
