Experience Völvur, Gold and Gods at Køge Museum
2 December 2021 to 31 December 2023

Welcome to the world of the gods! The exhibition Völvur, Gold and Gods takes you on a journey back into the Viking Age, zooming into the period when the Asa belief was superseded by Christianity. The transition from paganism is a farewell to Thor, Odin and Loke and a hello to God and Christian rituals.

Jim Lyngvild's 10 female portraits of völvur are a  central part of the exhibition. You will see Minister of Culture and Church Ane Halsboe-Jørgensen, actress Ghita Nørby, singer Sanne Salomonsen and others portrayed as völvur.

Have a good time with Völvur, Gold and Gods!

Køge Museum invites you into a world of research, interpretations and debate, and the leading researchers in the field submit their opinions on the multiple stories attached to the Vikings' ornamentation.

Jim Lyngvild's 10 female portraits of völvur are a  central part of the exhibition. You will see Minister of Culture and Church Ane Halsboe-Jørgensen, actress Ghita Nørby, singer Sanne Salomonsen and others portrayed as völvur.

It is a good idea to bring a smartphone and a pair of headphones when you visit Køge Museum. With your ticket you will receive an audio guide that you can use with your own phone.

The audio guide makes it possible to hear the sound of the short videos shown on screens in the exhibition, as well as a number of podcasts that provide more detailed information.

Have a good time with Völvur, Gold and Gods!
