Duck and Cover

Award-winning cocktail bar hidden away in a Vesterbro basement.

Sometimes duties, deadlines and a never-ending to-do list can become a bit overwhelming, and sometimes you just have to escape from everyday life for a bit. Between militants, “duck and cover” means to seek shelter, and that’s exactly what you can do at Duck and Cover: take a timeout from the bustling city and recharge your batteries while sipping on a delicious cocktail.

Kasper Riewe Henriksen, the owner of Duck and Cover, has poured his heart and soul into this place, which atmosphere is influenced by his own upbringing. The interior is inspired by the home of Kasper’s own grandmother, and when you step down to the basement at Dannebrogsgade, it’s like traveling to Copenhagen back in the 1960’s. With its location on a quite side road to the busy main street of Vesterbrogade, Duck and Cover has a laid-back vibe that’s perfect for a casual night out with friends.

Most importantly is, of course, the cocktails, and with a menu that often changes to reflect the city's seasons and holidays, there's always something new to try. The creativity behind the bar and the service-minded bartenders is probably what secured Duck and Cover two prestigious titles at Bartender's Choice Awards 2017, which is considered the Oscars of cocktail bars. With both Best Bar and Best Menu on its CV, there’s no doubt your taste buds will thank you for a visit to Duck and Cover.
